Hope, Joy, Sorrow & Love

Tears and memories come from this beautiful story of faith, hope, and answered prayers. God gave Kevin four gifts at birth - devout parents, a wonderful disposition, a smile, and a beautiful heart. The heart was visible and expressed in his smile and disposition, even in the most difficult of times. It is why he touched so many to the very end and why he was so loved. His destiny was to be with the Lord.

As his life was slipping away, Kevin asked Shirley, “Why doesn’t the Lord just take me?” Shirley said, “I don’t know, but He loves you infinitely more than I do, and I can’t imagine how that can be.”

Shirley and Dan’s consolation is knowing that life here on earth is short compared to eternity and that they would now be sharing it with their son in the future. In the meantime, the Lord gave them a daughter-in-law and a beautiful granddaughter to love and pray for.

One thing that resonated with me in writing this story is that, no matter what your religious affiliation is, the Lord evaluates the heart.

Matthew 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
